Open Science

Development of the materials research of the future takes place in open collaboration between businesses and university research environments.

The Open Science platform ensures that Danish industry and the university benefit more from each other's knowledge and technology by combining industrial innovation with basic research in a completely new way:

University researchers and businesses collaborate on creating fundamental new knowledge within materials science, and this knowledge is made openly available to everyone: no-one may take out patents. On the other hand, everyone can then freely exploit this knowledge to develop and patent their own unique products.

You can also participate

The Open Science platform SPOMAN (Smart Polymer Materials and Nano-Composites) is open to everyone, and it is free to participate. You and your business can choose to

  • follow from the sidelines and gain access to all the latest knowledge as it is generated
  • sign up and participate in monthly meetings and have your business’ own needs for new research translated into specific basic research projects.

At the moment, Open Science SPOMAN includes a score of large and small Danish businesses as well as researchers from all of Denmark's universities. The collaboration is particularly interesting for small and medium-sized enterprises, which may not have extensive experience with research-based development.
