If you are responsible for organising a course, seminar or workshop, and you are looking for a suitable venue, it is worth looking south, specifically towards Als, which is located 7 kilometres north-west of Sønderborg. The Sandbjerg Estate – Aarhus University’s course centre – is located here in attractive surroundings facing the Als Sound.

The buildings were donated to Aarhus University in 1954. Since 1975, the estate has functioned as a course centre for the university and has been regularly renovated and extended so that it can now accommodate 105 guests in 74 rooms in the different buildings. There are also meeting rooms, classrooms and lecture theatres with room for up to 140 people.

The Sandbjerg Estate is one of the cheapest venues for courses or seminars in Denmark (DKK 1,350 for a 24-hour stay including all meals). As an internal location, there is also a benefit in terms of VAT.

The Aarhus University Research Foundation has a programme where you can apply for support for PhD courses, research group meetings and AIAS workshops at the Sandbjerg Estate.

You can also request a stay at Møllehuset (the Mill House), which is located at the Sandbjerg Estate.
