Carsten Suhr Jacobsen to continue as head of the Department of Environmental Science
Carsten Suhr Jacobsen will continue as head of the Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus University from 1 April 2023.
Carsten Suhr Jacobsen will continue as head of the Department of Environmental Science, where he has been the head of department since 2015.
"I’m delighted that I’ll be able to continue my work as head of the Department of Environmental Science. Since I started in 2015, the department has experienced an increase in the environmental research that forms the basis for our consultancy activities. My vision is that we’ll continue to grow in the coming years, especially within topics relating to the transition to a sustainable society," says Carsten Suhr Jacobsen.
The dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Eskild Holm Nielsen, is looking forward to the continued collaboration with Carsten Suhr Jacobsen:
"I'm very much looking forward to continuing working with Carsten, and I'm looking forward to following the continued development of the Department of Environmental Science," the Dean says.
Recognised researcher in microbiology
Carsten Suhr Jacobsen is a molecular microbial ecologist and has also worked as a research professor at GEUS (Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland).
Over the years, Carsten Suhr Jacobsen has headed several major research projects, primarily within the interface between environmental chemistry, microbial ecology and Arctic microbiology, in which he has focused on understanding the spread and survival of microorganisms on the ice sheet.
Green transition and research-based public sector consultancy
Carsten will now focus on continuing and developing the department's important focus areas:
"The department's focus is to continue to deliver crucial research within air and water quality, emissions, biodiversity and the transition to a sustainable society. We’re also focusing on ensuring more female research directors in the future and on consolidating our research-based consultancy services for the authorities. In relation to research-based consultancy, our goal is also to develop new customer segments such as municipalities, regions, businesses and investment companies," says Carsten Suhr Jacobsen.
