I am a medical doctor, PhD and specialist in clinical pharmacology. As Clinical Associate Professor at Aarhus University, I combine research and teaching to translate biomedical discoveries into new treatments. My research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes and precision medicine. I lead the Clinical Pharmacology course and draw on experience from clinical practice and drug development.
I investigate how disease mechanisms can guide new treatments, particularly for frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes. My work focuses on sortilin and related receptors, precision medicine and new uses for existing medicines. I combine laboratory studies, genetics and clinical trials to identify treatment targets and evaluate potential therapies.
I teach clinical pharmacology and biochemistry to medical and molecular medicine students. As head of the Clinical Pharmacology course, I oversee course content, teaching and examinations. I use clinical cases and interactive prescribing exercises to connect biological mechanisms with safe treatment decisions. I also supervise research and PhD students and have authored a textbook chapter on RNA therapeutics.
I contribute expertise in clinical pharmacology, drug development and treatment evaluation. I serve on the Danish Medicines Council’s expert committee for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). I have also advised on national prioritisation of COVID-19 medicines.
At Aarhus University, I conduct translational research, lead the Clinical Pharmacology course and supervise students and researchers. My teaching responsibilities include course content, teaching coordination and examinations. I connect laboratory research with clinical studies and contribute expertise in clinical pharmacology, precision medicine and drug development.
