Opening of the Centre for Quantum Optics and Quantum Matter
The recently launched Centre for Quantum Optics and Quantum Matter (CQOM) is opening at an all-day event in the AIAS Lecture Theatre in Aarhus. Admission is free for everyone. The new centre is a local initiative, with the participation of ten research groups from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry.

CQOM aims to create a forum for reciprocal information, communication and inspiration at a local, national and international level.
The theoretical and experimental work carried out by the research groups covers a number of quantum phenomena, including macroscopic quantum membranes, ultracold atomic gases, ion crystals and single particles confined in external fields or quantum liquids.
A number of presentations on the opening day will provide information about the different activities. Richard Schmidt (ITAMP, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and Harvard University) will be taking part in the first CQOM colloquium.
