The faculty has received 875 first priority applications through quota 2, which is an increase of 57 per cent compared to last year.

"This is a very positive development, and we’re pleased to see that so many young people are interested in our programmes. Now we hope that we can get all the pieces of the puzzle in place so that we can offer a study place to as many new faces as possible," says Finn Borchsenius, vice-dean at the Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University.

Behind the figures is the sizeable number of applications for the new Bachelor's programme in Veterinary Medicine at Aarhus University's new AU Viborg campus, with a total of 572 applications, of which 317 are first priority applications. The new Animal Science programme has also attracted a good response, with 123 applications in total, of which 17 are first priority applications.

"It's fantastic to see that so many have recognised AU Viborg and the unique study environment we're developing there. The location of the new campus provides unique opportunities for our students to get close to animals, plants and a unique research environment, and I think this appeals to many young people."

The Bachelor of Engineering programme in Software Technology is the most popular engineering programme, with 85 first priority applicants. The programme in civil engineering also remains popular.
