Research

Luiza Karpavicius is an environmental economist specializing in the interactions between the environment and public policies. She is currently in her 3rd year as a PhD student in Environmental Economics at the Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus University. In her PhD, Luiza is doing research in cost-effective policy instruments for carbon sequestration. Specifically, her PhD project focuses on the transaction costs that accrue in forestry and agriculture policies.

Teaching activities

During her PhD, Luiza has had different teaching experiences. At Aarhus University, she has been a guest lecturer for the "PhD summer school on land use, carbon sequestration and cost-effective climate policy". Outside of Aarhus University, she has been teaching assistant at Denmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) and guest lecturer at the department of economics at University of São Paulo (Brazil). She has also twice volunteered at Denmark's Forskningens Døgn, in 2023 and 2024.

Consultancy

Luiza is one of the authors in the  advisory report for DCE "A meta-analysis of transaction costs for projects to enhance carbon sequestration in land use and the potential implications in the Danish context". The report disseminates the main findings from the first chapter of Luiza's PhD thesis to danish policymakers, and is written together with her supervisor (as first author) and co-supervisor.
