I am an Associate Professor in environmental governance and agri-environmental policy at the Department of Agroecology, Aarhus University. My work explores how policies, governance arrangements, and stakeholder participation shape sustainable transitions in agriculture, land use, and water management. I contribute to interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public-sector consultancy, bridging social science, environmental science, and policy practice.
My research examines environmental policy, collaborative governance, policy implementation, and sustainability transitions in agriculture and land use. I analyse how policy instruments, institutional arrangements, and stakeholder participation shape outcomes in water, nutrient, and climate governance. My work combines political science, agroecology, and geography to support evidence-based policymaking and the green transition.
I teach and develop courses in agroecology, environmental governance, agricultural policy, and sustainability, and I also teach and supervise problem-oriented project work. My teaching emphasizes research-based learning, active engagement, and linking theory with practice. I teach at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels, supervise across all stages, and contribute to curriculum development.
My research is highly collaborative and involves partnerships with universities, public authorities, NGOs, and international organisations. I work closely with policymakers, municipalities, environmental agencies and ministries, agricultural advisors, and stakeholders in the agri-food sector. Internationally, I collaborate with research teams in Europe, North America, and Asia on projects related to nutrient governance, water management, agroecological transitions, and sustainability policy.
I conduct research-based public-sector consultancy for national and regional authorities. This includes evaluations of water councils, coastal governance, nutrient management schemes, and agri-environmental policy instruments. My consultancy work supports evidence-based decision-making and provides analyses for ministries, municipalities, and environmental agencies. I also advise on stakeholder engagement processes and the design of governance arrangements in sustainability transitions.
My responsibilities include conducting independent and collaborative research, securing external funding, teaching and supervising students at all academic levels, contributing to curriculum development, and delivering research-based public-sector consultancy. I also participate in departmental committees, coordinate work packages in international projects, and engage with stakeholders in the agri-food and environmental sectors.
